In this much-asked-for workshop, I will discuss the basic principles of geometric hand stitching. I’ll discuss fabrics, marking tools, threads, needles, and all of the tips and tricks to set you up for success with hand-stitching. After discussing materials and handling your thread and fabric, you’ll learn two stitching patterns: the star stitch and the tortoise shell stitch, featured below. After leaving the class, you'll be able to read sashiko and stitching patterns, and be able to analyze existing historical pieces to figure out their framework.
